Focus on Alexandra Battery

Alexandra Battery was built in 1920 as part of the costal defence as the British felt compelled to defend Bermuda from the French, Spanish and Americans. The Battery was one of the forts built to protect the Narrows channel that was the main shipping lane into the Island. Alexandra was built on top of a fort called Building Bay fort that saw active duty until the 1920s. Photos David Skinner
