Fahy congratulates Richardson on election win
Government yesterday sent congratulations to the Corporation of St George’s newest alderman, Anthony Richardson.Mr Richardson was elected last Thursday, beating out three others who hoped for the post.He replaces Garth Rothwell, who was appointed Mayor last month.Home Affairs Minister Michael Fahy, whose Ministry has responsibility for Municipalities, yesterday said he “very much looks forward to working with Mr Richardson, Mayor Rothwell and the entire Corporation team to revitalise the Old Town”.“Sadly the economic challenges have had a terrible effect on St. George’s, its surrounding businesses in the area and its tourism sector,” he said.“This Government stands behind the efforts of the Mayor and the Corporation to get the St George’s economy moving again. And it’s my hope to meet with the team in the near future to discuss the way forward for the Old Town.”
