Confusing roles

February 4, 2013Dear Sir,I am confused. In Saturday February 2 Royal Gazette on page five, I read that unions should be consulted before government polices are changed? Is that right, or do I have it wrong? I thought the majority of voters in Bermuda voted that the One Bermuda Alliance should govern Bermuda? Also, according to reports on the front page and page 2 of the same newspaper, the Bermuda Industrial Union is busy. It reminds me that almost a year ago, in a letter in The Royal Gazette, I wrote that if the OBA were our next government, it was a safe bet they would have trouble with the BIU, which is after all, an arm of the Progressive Labour Party. It is not in the interest of the PLP or the BIU that the OBA actually succeed in saving Bermuda and it looks like they have begun their ‘death by a thousand pin pricks’ already. Isn’t it sad that the political party that brought Bermuda to the brink of ruin is now undermining our best chance of recovery? Dressed up in rhetoric and hidden behind mirrors of deceit perhaps, but it comes to the same thing.MARK EMMERSONPembroke
