Town get another bite at the cherry

Dandy Town captain Damon Ming believes his side’s FA Cup replay with Flanagan’s Onions may be a blessing in disguise as the defending champions look to advance to the next round. The clubs had to settle for a replay after Jake Fox cancelled out a Rico Wells goal that put the champions ahead at St John’s Field. The replay is set to be played on February 10 at 2.30pm at Goose Gosling Field.“The good thing is that we didn’t lose, we are still in and we can still advance. We didn’t put our best foot forward and in the end got a result that was deserving of our play.“We have to look at ourselves and know that there is another game and opportunity to advance to the next round.”Although the result didn’t see Town through to the next round, part two of the showdown will have a winner as the match will go to penalties if the score is even after extra time..Conditions at St John’s Field were less than ideal on Sunday but the same shouldn’t be said for the return leg that will be played on the artificial surface at Goose Gosling Field.Playing another game will give fringe players at the club a chance to showcase their skills, said Ming.“The conditions didn’t help but I feel in the replay we will be better prepared and ready to play so it is up to us to go to their ground and get a result.“We are fine and we know it is one game at a time, we are the defending champions of this competition and we know teams are out there trying to beat us but the main thing is to build on our last performance and get the job done.”Another FA Cup tie that will also see a replay is Southampton Rangers versus St George’s on February 10 at Southampton Oval.
