Hood wary of wounded North Village

Robin Hood skipper Teddy Terceira doesn’t believe his side have any advantage over North Village ahead of their FA Cup semi-final at BAA Field tonight. While Hood have had two weeks to keep their powder dry, Village have only just returned to the Island from their CFU Club Championship campaign in the Cayman Islands, which saw them finish bottom of their group. However, Terceira has warned his team-mates to be wary of the Rams who will be looking to get their disappointment in the Caribbean out of their system.“We have to stay sharp given we have had a couple of weeks off and they are playing still, so we have to get into a groove early and get the result,” said Terceira.“They have been training hard in preparation for their international competition but at the same time it’s a double-edged sword in the sense that we will be fresher but they have been playing and have games under their belt.“They have a deep squad, and as defending league champions from a year ago they will have something to come out for.”The two teams have met twice this year, both in the league, with Village beating Hood comfortably at Bernard Park 5-2 while the reverse fixture at BAA Field ended in a 1-1 draw. The skipper doesn’t believe the previous encounters will matter any, with tonight’s game being a one-off game with a date at the National Sports Centre on the line.“It’s a one off game and we just need to stay focused on what is asked of us,” said Terceira.“The ball is round, that’s the only thing that is guaranteed in football, you don’t know how it will bounce and you have to take what is given to you and accept it.“We can take some positives out of our last game against them, we held them to a draw but at the same time they held the ball for long spells and we just have to come out with the mindset that we are fighting until the end for what is at stake.“The FA Cup is special and hopefully we can stay compact at the back and take our chances and cause problems going forward.”Kick-off is scheduled for 9pm.
