Catlin End-to-End now accepting applications from local charities for the 2012 walk

Many deserving charities in Bermuda are struggling under the tight financial economy, but the Catlin End-to-End charity fundraiser wants to help. The Catlin End-to-End, one of the Island’s largest fund drives, is seeking applications from local charities wishing to receive funds from its 2012 event. The annual event, now in its 25th year, raises pledge dollars from more than 2,500 dedicated and generous participants who navigate the roads, waterways and trails of Bermuda during the first Saturday in May.Every year, a number of local charities are selected to receive the funds they need to make Bermuda a better place.“We are seeking deserving charities to win our support in 2012,” said Anne Mello, chair of the End-to-End Charitable Trust, which organises the event. “We have a formal application process for charities wishing to be considered recipients of our funds.“As a certified charity and an organisation that distributes funds to local charities, we are strongly committed to the highest standards of care in where we direct the funds.”She said applications must be for programmes and projects that address current critical needs in the community, and the charities they select must supply formal accounts which prove to them that the funds they receive are used for the purpose for which they had been requested.Registered charities wishing to be considered for funds raised in the May 5, 2012 event should submit a confidential application providing detailed information about the organisation, the project to be funded, and its impact on the community.Recipient charities must be non-political and nonsectarian and must support local charities doing work in Bermuda. Applications must be received at the End-to-End mailbox by November 4.Application forms can be downloaded from The Centre on Philanthropy’s website at www.centreonphilanthropy.org or the End-to-End website at www.bermudaendtoend.bm under the charity section.End-to-End organisers suggested that charities solicit the assistance of The Centre On Philanthropy in preparing their submissions. The Catlin End-to-End’s mission is to be Bermuda’s premier annual charitable pledge event, committed to promoting the happiness and well-being of our island community through all inclusive activities.Charities selected in 2011 emphasised programmes supporting youth, families, seniors, and those with special needs.
