If you’re going to break your diet...
It’s holiday time! Well not quite yet but I thought I’d get you in the mood and keep the page totally fun and upbeat today. You’re bound to be barbecuing or picnicking at some point over the long weekend and I can appreciate that even if you have been adhering to a healthier diet, you may drop the ball at some point, maybe many points, during the four days.Body & Soul offers this fun quiz on some barbecue items that may help prevent you making the worst choice. I sought advice from Clinical Dietitian at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital (KEMH), Hannah Simpson and personal health coach Preston Ephraim II in writing this article. Both felt that most all the items mentioned were unhealthy and both struggled to simply say which item was worse. Both wanted to offer healthy alternatives, but I pushed them to choose. After all when most of us are at the barbecue or picnic, we eat what’s there.Of course it’s great if you are able to stick to your healthy diet throughout the holiday. The best way to do it is to take your own fare to the festivities. And let no one kid you, its perfectly acceptable etiquette, so go ahead your body will thank you.
