Wells will learn his fate by Friday

Trialist Nahki Wells is optimistic about his chances of winning a Bradford City contract and will learn his fate by the end of this week. The 21-year-old is looking for a new club after being released by Carlisle United and has been vying to impress Bradford boss Peter Jackson during pre-season training.Wells told The Royal Gazette yesterday he was satisfied with his form over the past few weeks and is quietly confident of being offered a deal by the English League Two side.“I’m still at Bradford at the moment and I believe the club will be making a decision on me by the end of the week,” said the Bermuda international.“I made a slow start but I’ve been doing good recently and I’m pleased with the way I’ve played. I’ve mainly been playing in friendlies with the other trialists as well as a few inter squad matches and I’ve done okay.“I’ve haven’t spoken much with the gaffer (Jackson), but the feedback I’ve had from the other coaches has been positive.”Wells reckons he has more chance of forcing his way into Jackson’s plans as a winger than a striker, a switch he is more than happy to make if it helps his cause to win a contract.“I’ve had to make a slight adjustment to my game because I’m being used as a winger and not striker,” said the former Dandy Town man, who is due to play another trial match tonight. That’s not a problem for me and I’m happy to play wherever I’m asked. I think I’m well-equipped to play on the wing and hopefully I’ve given a good account of myself.”The Bantams, a former Premier League club, have fallen on hard time in recent years with a series of financial pressures resulting in them slipping down to the bottom tier of English football. They finished just above the relegation zone last season in 18th position, but Wells believes brighter times are ahead for the West Yorkshire outfit.“Bradford would be a great move for me,” he said. “They’re a big club with a great history. There’s a good feel about the place and I think they could be challenging for promotion this season.”Wells was recommended to City by the club’s former winger Mark Ellis who coached him at the UK-based International Academic and Soccer Academy. The ex-Bermuda Hogges player made three first team appearances for Carlisle last term.
