Jail for disqualified driver who drove to court

Driving to court while disqualified to answer another charge of driving while disqualified resulted in jail for a 27-year-old Devonshire man.Kyle Henderson, of Mary Victoria Road, was pulled over on July 1.Henderson, who had been banned from the roads for three years on January 2, 2009, had already been caught on April 15, when he was pulled over for speeding.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner told him: “You’ve got some nerve. You were supposed to come to court today for driving while disqualified, and you drove here?”Telling Henderson: “I can’t let you call my bluff”, Mr Warner fined him $400 for the April 15 offence, with 14 demerit points for both offences, and two terms of ten days’ imprisonment, to be served concurrently.
