Ex-Roma coach to run clinic
The Bermuda Brazilian Football School will hold a goalkeeping clinic for male and female players later this month at the National Sport Centre’s North Field.The founder and director of the Eurostar Keeper Academy John Moreira will put the young shot stoppers through their paces for the two-day clinic.Bermuda-born Moreira has worked for and with the likes of Zinedine Zidane, Benfica, Bolton and Roma.He has a USSF National ‘A’ license and also prepares goalkeepers for all levels of play from grassroots to university and pro teams.He is also a licensed representative for the prestigious IMG Athletic Academy.“We look forward to seeing Bermuda’s goalkeepers off all ages in attendance,“ said Moreira. “We have 36 keepers registered for the Euro Star Clinic thus far from all clubs and schools aged 7-19 years of age both male and female.“It is with great pleasure that I am able to come back home to work with Bermuda Brazilian Football School, coach Dennis Brown and (CEO) Cal Blankendal and last but certainly not least the kids, which the game belongs to.“I have been studying the art of goalkeeping over the last several years and have had the good fortune and opportunity to work with some of the best in the goalkeeping industry such as such as Dan Gaspar, the former Portugal national goalkeeper coach.”The clinics will run on June 20-21.
