Supermart applies for al fresco dining
The Supermart grocery store is planning to refurbish the front of its Front Street premises, adding tables and seating for diners. The application was received by the Planning Department on February 3. It is currently awaiting review by Planning officials.Produced by Adwick Planning, the proposal calls for the replacement of existing pillars with timber posts and the instillation of a fence between them, creating seating areas on both sides of the store’s entrance and exit.“The application proposes significant cosmetic improvements to the existing store front, including decorative brick flooring of the area beneath the existing cantilevered balcony to provide an attractive space where patrons of the shop’s food bar can sit to eat their meal.”It describes the existing storefront as having a “rather utilitarian appearance”.“This is not helped by the bare concrete paving beneath the balcony covering the area that has in the past been used for cycle parking, but which is now cordoned off using a chain.”Useful websites: www.planning.gov.bm, wwwsupermart.bm.
