Southampton East Central produced one of the surprises of the 2007 General Election, with Zane DeSilva of the Progressive Labour Party taking a seat previously considered a good United Bermuda Party bet.
Mr. DeSilva defeated long-serving UBP politician David Dodwell by 569 votes to 521 in a close race in the Southampton marginal.
The 2003 election was even tighter, with Mr. Dodwell securing a third successive term by beating Raymond Tannock of the PLP by 466 votes to 446.
