Three in hospital after crashes

Three people ended up in hospital as the result of two road collisions over the weekend.Police were called to the first incident at the junction of Tommy Fox and Pepper Hall roads in St. George's at around 10.15 p.m. on Friday.According to a spokesman, it appears that a car and an auxiliary cycle were both travelling east on Tommy Fox Road when the driver of the car, a 61-year-old man from St. George's, attempted to make a right turn on to Pepper Hall Road and the vehicles collided.

Police were called to the first incident at the junction of Tommy Fox and Pepper Hall roads in St. George's at around 10.15 p.m. on Friday.

According to a spokesman, it appears that a car and an auxiliary cycle were both travelling east on Tommy Fox Road when the driver of the car, a 61-year-old man from St. George's, attempted to make a right turn on to Pepper Hall Road and the vehicles collided.

The rider of the cycle, a 21-year-old man who is also from St. George's, sustained an injury to his right arm. His pillion passenger, a 12-year-old girl from Smith's parish, sustained facial injuries. Both were taken by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The girl was said to be in a stable condition on a ward yesterday, while the man had been discharged after treatment.

Officers were called to the second incident, at the junction of Knapton Hill and Harrington Hundreds Road in Smith's, around 3.20 p.m. on Saturday.

The Police spokesman said a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) was travelling north on Harrington Hundreds Road and an auxiliary cycle was travelling east on Knapton Hill when the vehicles collided at the junction.

The rider of the cycle, a 16-year-old male from Paget, suffered lacerations to his right hand, right leg and abdomen. The driver of the SUV, a 34-year-old woman from Smith's parish, was not injured. The man was treated at the hospital and discharged.
