Trio claim team title

The SheROX series was created by Philadelphia Triathlon LLC, whose CEO Richard Alder watched from the sidelines.

He said bringing the finale to Bermuda was achieved through a link up with the Department of Tourism.

Alder believes women are the biggest growth segment in triathlons, and the idea of staging the last race of the series in Bermuda allowed for a 'girls' weekend away' where they could bring their families and enjoy the Island

He said the women-only format made it less intimidating for many who wanted to try it, adding: "And it is not just about bringing in athletes from the States, but also attracting those who live here on the Island. It is great to have had the support we've seen and I see no reason why we will not be back next year."

Fastest relay team of the day was the combination of swimmer Bridget Telenko (14.53), cyclist Sarah Bonnet (36.13) and runner Victoria Fiddick (19.58).

Bonnet said: "The organisation has been fantastic and the volunteers were great.

"It's lovely that it's a females' event. A lot of people have come out who don't normally compete."

Those thoughts were echoed by swimmer Telenko, who praised her teammates, as did runner Fiddick.

"Look at the turnout, it's –fantastic, all the women here," Fiddick added. "It is something that will grow."
