Butterfield Bank's common shares rose 2.56 percent (five cents) to $2 on The Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) yesterday.

The bank traded 135,600 shares during the day.

The only other trader was Bermuda Aviation Services Ltd., which saw 1,000 shares change hands, but its share price held firm at $5.30.

The Index, as a whole, was up 16.14 points (1.01 percent) at 1,618.81, as 136,600 shares worth BD$247,920 and 970 shares worth US$21,862.22 being transacted.

The BSX Insurance Index dropped 1.99 points (0.2 percent) to 986.04.
