Butterfield Bank's common shares dipped 27.08 percent (65 cents) on The Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) yesterday.

The bank traded 31,700 shares to close at $1.75.

The Ascendant Group Ltd. also slid one percent (15 cents) to $14.75, with 3,000 shares changing hands.

Overall the Index fell 211.79 points (12.14 percent) to 1,533.35, as 34,700 shares worth $119,240 were transacted.

The BSX Insurance Index also declined 6.39 points (0.64 percent) to 977.86.
