BSX into decline

The week closed on a downward trend with the insurance, utilities and media sectors taking a big hit on The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index (BSX) yesterday.

Argus Group Holdings Ltd. fell $1 (8.33 percent) to $11, with 3,000 shares traded, while BF&M Ltd. saw 2,100 shares change hands, as its share value dropped 20 cents (1.06 percent) to $18.50.

KeyTech Ltd. also declined $1 (9.09 percent) to $10, with 5,516 shares transacted, with Bermuda Press (Holdings) ltd. down $1 (8.33 percent) at $11, as 1,400 shares changed hands.

But Bermuda Commercial Bank Ltd. had a good day, seeing its share price rise by $1.50 (16.66 percent) to $10.50, with 2,000 shares traded.

The only other traders included Butterfield Bank (37,932 shares) and Belco Holdings Ltd. (6,200), but their share prices held firm.

Overall the Index dropped 53.83 points (1.43 percent) to close at 3,717.34, with 58,148 shares worth $712,113.65 traded.

The BSX Insurance Index was also down, by 0.57 percent, on 747.34.
