Marine rescues and shipping movements

A 20ft power craft disabled off Tynes Bay Incinerator on the North Shore was rescued on Wednesday, January 28. A 911 call was received just after 12.30 p.m. and the fisheries vessel Sentinel responded and towed the boat to Spanish Point.

The evening before, the Deep Blue Sea fishing vessel, with three people onboard, was towed to safety from southwest of the Hogfish Beacon in the western small boat channel to Robinson's Marina.

On the afternoon of Sunday, January 25, the 22ft power craft Beluga, with two people onboard, struck a reef, disabling its engine near Daniel's Head, Somerset. The power craft Protector towed the vessel to Dockyard.

The same afternoon Bermuda Maritime Operations was advised by dive boat Tenacity that a male diver had suffered a heart attack at the Pelinaion dive site off St. David's Head. Emergency medical technicians met the boat at Ordnance Island and the man was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

The Oleander arrived at Hamilton docks last Sunday, carrying 101 dry containers and 40 refrigerated containers. Cargo included seven road trailers, one office trailer, one trailer for the docks and one construction screening machine. She left yesterday.

The Somers Isles is expected to reach the Island just after 8 a.m. today from Fernandina Beach, Florida. She will discharge 116 containers including seven reefers, one truck and one enclosed trailer. She is due to leave on Friday at 8.05 a.m.

The Bermuda Islander has been delayed by adverse weather and will arrive from Salem, New Jersey, at 8.05 a.m. on Friday. She will leave after discharging 120 containers.
