Under-18s to make history
Bermuda Under-18s rugby team will make a little bit of history this evening when they play their first game away from home in Canada.
The team was created 18 months ago, and since then the players have had to content themselves with playing the odd touring side and any games that can be arranged against the Island's main rugby sides.
Tonight though they will play against the Oakville Crusaders in Burlington, and on Sunday they face the Burlington Centaurs.
For coach James (Herbie) Adderley it is just the next step towards the ultimate goal of competing in the Under-19 Caribbean Championships next year.
"Before we used to lose a lot of players at the age of 14, but now we at least have something to keep them playing. We're trying to get a side to come and play us during the Rugby Classic as well.
"We're taking a group of 24 players, with some Under-16s and all will get a chance to play.
"You have to be careful putting some of the younger players up against the older ones, but it will give us a chance to play and see how we are doing.
"For some of the players it will be their first real game."
