String of house and property burglaries
A Pembroke resident returned home on Tuesday morning only to find an unknown man inside her home.
According to the complainant, she had left her Vaucrosson Crescent apartment locked when she had left earlier in the morning.
The suspect was described as a black male, five-foot eight inches tall, with a slim build and short hair, and was wearing a white T-shirt and jeans. He is believed to be in his mid 30s and has a "very rough looking face". He is believed to have escaped with a silver Motorola cell phone.
Police responded to three other burglaries on Tuesday, one in Devonshire, one in Hamilton and another in Pembroke.
At 7.20 a.m., a Hamilton Parish clothing store on North Shore Road reported that an unknown culprit gained access to the store sometime between Saturday evening and Tuesday morning. The culprit is believed to have taken a grey laptop computer and a number of shirts.
At 2.40 p.m., residents at a Fourth Avenue, Devonshire residence reported that someone entered the home while it was empty earlier that day, taking jewellery with them.
Police also responded to a burglary at a Clarke's Lane, Pembroke home late on Tuesday night, when residents reported that while out, an unknown culprit gained access to the house. The culprit is believed to have stolen a silver/grey Compaq laptop, a red Samsung digital camera, two watches and some cash.
Police inquiries into all of these incidents are underway.
