Schoolboy, 6, struck by van
A six-year-old schoolboy was struck by a van while crossing the road and sustained minor injuries.
The child was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital by his mother and treated for a bruised left wrist and was subsequently released.
At around 4 p.m. on Monday Police attended the reported collision on Palmetto Road in Devonshire near the junction with Roberts Avenue. They report a van travelling east on Palmetto Road came to an abrupt stop upon seeing the young child, but it still struck the boy.
A Police spokesperson said: "An auxiliary cycle travelling in the same direction behind the van was unable to stop and collided with the rear of the van.
The rider of the auxiliary cycle, a 17-year-old female, was not injured; the driver of the van, a 52-year-old Hamilton Parish man, was also uninjured.
"The van received relatively minor damage, while the auxiliary cycle received moderate front end damage, a Police statement read.
