The Beijing Olympic Games opened yesterday with a feast of light and sound inside the Bird's Nest Stadium. Showjumper Jill Terceira led Bermuda's six athletes and six officials out at the extravagant opening ceremony, with teams marching in accordance with the Chinese alphabet.

The Island's Olympic delegation donned their traditional shorts and skirts at the ceremony, which celebrated China's ancient past and modern power.
