Youth trio head out for US event
Three Bermuda youth footballers will travel to Florida this week to take part in the USL Super League finals.
Rai Simons, Ryan Parris and Jibri Salaam are all members of the Reading Rage's Under-14 side that qualified for the tournament having finished second in Group B of the Super Y League's Mid Atlantic Conference.
The Under-14s will be making their first appearance at the finals, which features the top sides from across North America, and regularly attracts some of the top college coaches in the US.
"The first year we sent 10 players who were successfully placed in the league," said national youth director of football Devarr Boyles. "This year three players will now compete amongst the best of the nation's youth soccer in the United States.
"This provides an opportunity for our young players coming along in our Academy programme to play with the very best in North America. This also augments their football education beginning with training, matches and travel experience at a young age."
Reading Rage will take four teams to the the finals, the boys' Under-14s, Under-15s and Under-16s, and a girls' Under-14s side. The Bermuda trio will play for the Under-14s, who begin their finals campaign against Northern Virgina Royals on Friday, and then face Cleveland Internationals on Saturday, and West Pines United the day after.
