Fire stations open up for safety week
The Island's three fire stations will be open this week to the public to commemorate Fire Safety Awareness Week.
Starting today and ending on Friday, Port Royal, Hamilton and Clear Water fire stations will be open from 9.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. all residents are encouraged to visit and get information on how to protect themselves and their loved ones from a fire.
The awareness week event entitled: 'Stay Fire Smart Don't Get Burned' is hosted by the Bermuda Fire Service and will open this morning with an address by Acting Minister of Labour Walter Roban at the Hamilton Headquarters.
Tomorrow and Thursday at 7 p.m. the event continues as officers host demonstrations on how to appropriately use a fire extinguisher. In addition, schools will have the opportunity this week to take students to a fire station to learn more about the Island's fire service; they can make arrangements by calling 292-5555.
