Canada is next stop on Hair's comeback
Controversial umpire Darrell Hair will officiate in next week's Triangular Series involving Bermuda, West Indies and Canada in Toronto alongside Bermudian Roger Dill.
Next week's event will mark the first time the two men have been paired together in the middle since last year's World Cricket League Division One series in Nairobi, Kenya.
In November 2006 Australian Hair grabbed the headlines for all the wrong reasons when the International Cricket Council (ICC) demoted him for his controversial decision to award England victory over Pakistan in a Test match at the Oval.
It was during the ill-fated contest that Hair accused retired Pakistan skipper Inzamam-Ul-Haq of ball tampering and awarded England five extra runs. In protest, Pakistan refused to resume playing following the tea interval, resulting in Hair removing the bails and awarding the match to England.
However, under careful review, the ICC overturned the result and stripped Hair of his Test status after losing confidence in the senior umpire.
Inzamam was eventually cleared of ball-tampering charges but slapped with a four match ban for bringing the game into disrepute while umpire Hair, who dropped racial discrimination charges against the ICC last year, has since returned to the Test arena.
Bermudian Dill, who currently serves on the ICC Associates and Affiliates International and ICC Americas Region Elite Panels, also umpired alongside Hair during a 2006 One Day International (ODI) involving England and 2009 Twenty20 World Cup-bound Ireland.
