A man caught drink-driving claimed he had only drunk two Heinekens, a court heard.

Dwon Trott, 32, was arrested after Police noticed a stationary car in Duck's Puddle Drive, Hamilton Parish, at 12.15 a.m. on Sunday.

The car's engine was running and headlights on.

Officers approached the Suzuki Swift and noticed a male driver and passenger.

Crown counsel Cindy Clarke said: "The driver appeared to be fidgety and nervous and there was a strong smell of cannabis from the vehicle.

"His speech was slurred and his breath smelt of intoxicants. When he stepped out of the vehicle he was unsteady on his feet and his eyes were glazed."

When officers asked Trott whether he had been drinking, he replied: "I've only had two shots of Heineken."

A breath test reading however, revealed 104 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 mg.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner fined Trott $1,000 and banned him from driving for a year.
