A husband and wife fought with an intruder in their home on Monday evening.

At approximately 9.45 p.m. Police received a report of a burglary at a Wilkinson Avenue, Hamilton Parish, residence.

Police arrived at the scene shortly after receiving the report to find the complainants, a 42-year-old man and his wife, 43, restraining an allege burglar.

The suspect, a 41-year-old St. George's man, is said to have violently resisted when officers attempted to arrest him, forcing them to use deterrent spray to subdue him.

He was subsequently arrested and taken into Police custody.

The husband and wife were both hurt during the ordeal and taken to KEMH for treatment although their injuries are not serious.
