Butterfield slips 1%

Local stocks ended slightly lower yesterday after Butterfield Bank dropped nearly one percent.The bank, which was the only domestic company to trade yesterday, shed five cents, or 0.9 percent, to close on $5.50, as 250 shares traded.The Royal Gazette / Bermuda Stock Exchange Index fell 8.47 points, or 0.37 percent, to close on 2,349.67.

Volume was 250 shares and turnover was $1,371.
The Bermuda Insurance Index of the Island's leading international insurance companies was up 5.45 points, or 0.7 percent, to 770.33.
