Colts unhappy with drawing hot town

between champions Boulevard and North Village, while Dandy Town and Devonshire Colts will clash in the other semifinal, according to yesterday's draw at the BFA office.

Vasco cannot be faulted for preferring Village in the February 20 match at Somerset Cricket Club, having beaten them twice already this season, including last week in the Friendship Trophy.

Village would no doubt welcome the chance to avenge that loss, though they cannot afford to look any further than tonight's replay at PHC Stadium at 8.00.

The other semifinal is set for March 13 at St. David's, preceded by the Crystal Palace Youth Cup semifinal between Paget and North Village. The other semifinal, between Wolves and Devonshire Colts, on February at Somerset CC.

Like the upcoming Super Bowl this weekend, there is still a very strong possibility of a repeat from last year's final, as Boulevard and Devonshire Colts have been kept apart in the draw.

Colts coach Lorenzo Symonds, who was at yesterday's draw, admitted that he least preferred to meet Dandy Town. He feels they are playing some of the best soccer at present.

"All the pretenders are gone, so it's not going to be an easy road,'' he said.

"All the teams are good teams and Dandy Town, being on form, is the team we least wanted. Mind you, at the time we play them, March 13, anything can happen. You could pick up injuries and players could return, so it's difficult to tell what you're going to be up against.

"We've had our problems with Dandy Town. They knocked us out of the Friendship, in the league they beat us 3-2 and in the Martonmere we drew, so we haven't beaten them.'' Current form makes it difficult to predict winners in tonight's replay. The champions welcomed the return of Wayne Richardson and Carlos Pearman to their ranks in Sunday's exciting 2-2 draw, and like a dog protecting a bone they will not be giving up the prized FA Cup without a fight.

Village's fightback from twice being a goal down was just as spectacular as their 2-0 win over Boulevard in the Dudley Eve Trophy semifinal on December 28 when two late goals sealed victory at BAA field.

Shawn Goater appears to have regained his scoring touch. The Rotherham striker scored his team's winner on Saturday against Leyton Orient. The Merry Millers triumphed 2-1 at home to ease their relegation worries.

Goater's goal came in the 69th minute, just three minutes after Orient had equalised.
