Crashes involve bus, motorcycle and rental bikes

A bus and a motorcycle collided, and two tourists were injured in separate road accidents at either end of the Island on Monday.

The first accident occurred at 7.20 a.m. at the junction of South Road and Paynters Road in St. George's. According to Police, the bus and the motorcycle were travelling in opposite directions.

"The rider of the motorcycle, a 25-year-old Paget man, sustained minor injuries. He was taken to [King Edward VII Memorial Hospital] via ambulance, treated and later released. The bus driver, a 58-year-old Paget man, was not injured. It is unclear if any passengers were on the bus at the time."

The bus and the motorcycle received front-end damage.

The second accident occurred around 4.10 p.m. in Sandys.

According to Police two rental cycles collided with a curb at the junction of Somerset Road and Church Hill Lane.

"It appears that both rental cycles were travelling west on Somerset Road, one behind the other, when both riders lost control and collided with the curb," the spokesperson said. "The riders of the rental cycles, a 73-year-old Virginia man and a 68-year-old Virginia woman, sustained lacerations to the head, face and arms."

Inquiries into both incidents are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to the first accident to contact PC Milisa Williams on 295-0011.
