The second round of the Miller High Life league began last Thursday with easy wins by some teams and upsets by others.
New Mix Ups provided the biggest upset with a 20-10 win over Stevedoring Services on the strength of Clement Lespere who rolled the top game of 234 to lead his team to third high game and series of 925 and 2,637 respectively.
Miles Smith provided only token resistance for the losers.
Signature Card tore apart Terminators 24-6 and despite the lopsided score all three games were decided in the 10th frame with Signature Card winning all three. David Abraham rolled the top score for the winners while newcomer Kevin Swan rolled a 223 game for the losers.
Gosling's posted a 22-8 triumph over Spoilers despite the inconvenience of having to move to other lanes because of mechanical difficulties. Once again the final results were deceiving since two of the three games were final frame decisions. Mike Lambe of Gosling's rolled third high game of 224 and was tied for top series of 613 with Abraham.
Gosling's also rolled the second high team game and series of 957 and 2,681.
Spoilers were led by Duncan Newby.
Marlboro smoked Team Spirit with a resounding 26-4 victory behind top team game (989) and series (2,789). They overmatched Team Spirit, especially since Doug Hines had second high series of 612 and team-mate Richard Zuill contributed with a 603 for the victors.
The final match was a low-scoring affair with Tools & Equipment defeating Thompsons 18-12.
