Monday night after residents of St. George's and St. David's sighted red flares off the old channel.

The flares were seen around 11:40 p.m., setting off a search of an area from the Town Cut through St. George's Harbour, Ferry Reach, to Coney Island and the north shore. Police marine units however found no sign of a vessel in distress and the search was eventually called off.

CRIME CRM A 37-year-old St. George's man reported his vehicle was entered over the weekend and a quantity of personal items were stolen.

The man told Police that around 5 p.m. Saturday he parked his four-door Nissan in the driveway of an unoccupied house on Wellington Lane in St. George.

When he returned about five hours later he discovered a black leather wallet containing credit cards, a gold bracelet, a Casio watch, a Huskey socket set and assorted tools, a blue windbreaker jacket, and some loose change has been pilfered.
