storm buried American airports under more than a foot of snow.

And the operation of airlines today was still up in the air at Press time last night. Of the eight flights serving Bermuda from North America, all but the daily Air Canada flight to Toronto were cancelled.

The American Airlines flight to JFK Airport in New York did not take off from Bermuda early yesterday morning. Delta Air Lines, US Airways and Continental Airlines' did not make the trip to Bermuda either.

The wintry weather is powered by a fast moving, intense low pressure weather system. It was expected to have left the US region overnight.

Locally, high winds were to blame for power outages. Last night a Belco spokeswoman said power was lost twice yesterday afternoon in Hamilton in the area surrounding Dundonald Street, Park and Woodlands Road. A small portion of St. John's Road was also hit.

Power was lost for an hour around noon and again after 2.30 p.m. It was restored an hour later for most people. In Flatts, crews had to cut power to sections of the village, Store Hill, North Shore and Jennings roads to put out a pole fire.
