On Monday a 61-year-old Hamilton businessman told Police that he received a telephone call from a man who demanded to see him.

Just after 6 p.m. the businessman said he saw the man arrive with an accomplice.

"The suspect forced his way in and said that the man standing outside the door had a gun and that there were two other men downstairs who also had guns,'' a Police spokeswoman said.

"The suspect then demanded that the victim give him a sizeable amount of money which he said he owed.

"When the victim tried to call the 911 emergency number, he said he was prevented from doing so.'' The suspect took the money and left the office and there was no evidence of any guns.

UNWELCOME VISITOR CRM Unwelcome visitor An attacker knocked a 54-year-old woman to the ground as she unlocked her front door and snatched her handbag.

The woman told Police that at about 11.20 p.m. on Monday she got home from a late shift and as she unlocked her door she was attacked and knocked to the ground.

"She screamed for help and later realised that her bag and contents were missing,'' said a Police spokeswoman.

The bag contained cash and medication and the attacker is described as a tall man wearing dark clothing and with a hood over his head.

Police were called to the woman's home, on Cottage Hill, Hamilton Parish, and investigations are continuing.

BURGLAR STEALS CASH CRM Burglar steals cash A burglar walked into a home and stole cash from a handbag -- while a husband and wife were inside the house.

Police said yesterday that at about 5.45 a.m. on Monday the husband heard the sound of his kitchen door closing and caught a glimpse of a man.

He later saw the silhouette of a man walking down a hill in front of his home, on Ridgeway Road, and discovered that someone had entered his house and stolen cash from a handbag in the living room.

The suspect is described as very light skinned or white.

TEENAGERS ARRESTED CRM Teenagers arrested Two teenaged schoolboys were arrested by an off-duty Police officer and a security guard in connection with shoplifting from the Phoenix Store on Monday.

The two 15-year-old boys were stopped as they left the store, but one ran off and was stopped by the Police officer.
