But the Bermuda Planning Association also aims to discuss and exchange ideas about planning issues in the Island.

The association was formed in July and elected its first council earlier this month. It was formed to bring together planning professionals and students, and people interested in planning.

President Ms Aideen Ratteray Pryse said: "The aim is to provide a forum for the discussion and exchange of ideas regarding planning issues on the Island.

"A key objective is to provide the community with a source of professional knowledge when land use matters are being considered.

"The association welcomes and encourages others with academic qualifications in associated fields such as architecture, surveying, landscape architecture and geography to join as associate members.'' Ms Ratteray Pryse said that such an association was not possible in the past but now that more Bermudians are gaining experience in planning matters they can join.

The Association aims to invite the public along to seminars to discuss wider planning matters but not to deal with individual problems.

The next meeting of the Bermuda Planning Association will be the annual general meeting in February 1993.
