The Smith's parish youth was flown to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston for specialised neuro-surgical treatment.

He had been travelling south on Sayle Road when he apparently lost control of his cycle and collided with a wall at 9 p.m. last Thursday.

A 14-year-old boy, who was a passenger on the bike, sustained leg and shoulder injuries.

Police have refused to reveal the identities of the two teenagers.

They are asking that witnesses of the accident call P.c. Tom Pratt at 295-0011.
