Overfull water tanks and inadequate drainage is believed to be the cause of the flooding which affected tiles, carpet and kitchen cabinets.

However Devonshire South MP Michael Dunkley vowed to keep a close watch on the situation.

"I went up there right away on Sunday afternoon after I received a call from the two families who had the most damage. This problem has happened before.'' Mr. Dunkley said it appeared the water came from Cedarbridge Academy where the water tanks had overflowed.

And he said the situation was aggravated by lack of proper drainage in the area, meaning the the heavy downpour over the weekend overwhelmed the system and entered the two families' backyards.

Mr. Dunkley said he and his running mate John Barritt informed Works Minister C.V. (Jim) Woolridge of the problem.

"We want to make sure that the contractor can rectify the problem which should not be too difficult to solve but we also want to see if we can get some compensation for the owners of those units,'' he said.

Mr. Woolridge said he was aware of the problems but declined to comment until he had seen a full report.
