Commercial clubs meet with BFA

their views during a recent meeting with the Bermuda Football Association.

BFA General Secretary David Sabir could not be reached for comment yesterday but a source confirmed that the Commercial clubs had responded favourably to the governing body's proposals and indicated that no further discussions were planned.

The BFA's plan is to have the Commercial Division scrapped and instead set up a Veterans' Division where most of the players would be at least 35 years-old.

This would give the current younger team members of Commercial Division teams a choice of playing for their clubs (or other clubs) in either the new Second Division or a Reserve Division which, under the BFA's proposed format, will be considered a "friendly division'' with no points awarded.

At a recent special general meeting of the BFA, affiliates instructed the association to meet with the Commercial Division clubs and get their views on the proposals rather than have the affiliates simply decide their fate.
