E-commerce law `in the pipeline'
Island's future e- commerce legislation.
Telecommunications Minister Renee Webb said Cabinet had seen the E-Commerce Transaction Bill.
The legislation is set to push the Island to the forefront of conducting business over the Internet.
Top London law firm Linklaters and Paines have produced drafting instructions for the AG's Chambers.
Linklaters and Paines consulted with a variety of local interests including the International Business Association, Chamber of Commerce, representatives of the telecommunications industry, the private sector and the Ministry of Finance.
"We have had a look at the second draft and passed it on to the Attorney General's chambers,'' Ms Webb said.
E-commerce bill `in pipeline' "They are in the process of preparing it for Parliament.'' Ms Webb said the legislation had been in the pipeline for more than two months and had been produced in conjunction with a local law firm.
Ms Webb added: "It will be laid down before the Parliament soon and hopefully will be passed before the end of the session.''
