Somerset Bridge Post Office will be moved to a new site during renovations at the bridge.

The office will be relocated to the Hitching Post at Hog Bay Level by Sunday, and will not return to its original building until repairs to Somerset Bridge are complete. All mail will be delivered from the building starting Monday.

Postmaster General, Clevelyn Crichlow, said all the mail boxes would be moved to the new building, which also had the benefit of parking. Government staff are presently preparing the site for its new tenant.

It is expected the Post Office will remain in its temporary quarters for up to three-and-a-half months, and during that time, Mr. Crichlow said, renovations would be made to the Post Office itself, which was in need of a new floor, among other work.

"We regret any inconvenience to the public, however, events have occurred which are beyond our control. We intend to give the same, good service,'' he said.

A temporary causeway across the water has been completed, and once work starts on the bridge proper, the Post Office building will be marooned by the project.
