Correctional Facility'' after he received a 2,000 signature petition protesting the name.

Mrs. Cheryl-Ann Lister, president of the West End Primary School PTA said she was happy with the turnout at the protest march last Saturday.

"The march was very successful, especially since it was on a Saturday. But I felt that parents and others in the community who are concerned came out,'' she said. "We managed to collect over 2000 signatures which is more than we had expected. It's now up to Government to consider the issue and we hope they will listen to our concerns.'' The march, which began at Casemates Prison and moved to the new prison site, involved the presentation of a petition to Sen. Yvette Swan who received it on behalf of Mr. Edness.

Mr. Edness said he understood the feelings of the community.

"I will look at the petition objectively to see whether or not it (the name) will be changed. I appreciate the people's concerns and I will do my best to meet them.'' PROTEST -- Hundreds of people turned up on on Saturday to protest the new prison's name.
