Fashion conscious British women wait anxiously for the publication of the twice yearly catalogue so they can be first to get their hands on some of the hottest new styles.

The Bermuda shots will appear in the spring/summer 1994 catalogue featuring sizzling examples of Next summer's beach wear.

The catalogue features clothes for women, men and children which are available in the Next chain of stores all over the United Kingdom.

A photographic team and five models were on the Island for 10 days shooting in and around hotels and beaches.

At the Elbow Beach Hotel yesterday, art director of the Bermuda shoot, Ms Pat Norris and fashion photographer Mr. John Bishop were finishing their assignment with Paris-based model Ilonka, who originates from Aruba in the Caribbean.

Ms Norris said: "We have been shooting four models and one male model.

They are top models from all over the world in places like Paris and New York.

"We have used hotels and beaches and found that people here have let us in to use their facilities without the usual hassle you get in other places. We have also done some shooting in the old town, St. George's.'' All the clothes being modelled will be used in the catalogue next year but Bermuda will not be mentioned even if it featured.

Mr. Bishop said: "They have about 10 photographic crews filming all over the world for this catalogue.

"I had been to Bermuda before and the beaches and the sea are great for fashion shots. I am surprised it is not used more often.

"One of the reasons is probably that most shots are in winter in time for summer magazines. Because this is a catalogue there is more time.'' The weather had not been perfect for the team until there was some improvement late last week. But they managed to get some shots before they left yesterday.

Ms Norris said: "It was pretty bad and it was only in the last couple of days where things have improved. The photographer has had to stay on for a couple of days but most of the models have gone back.'' Speaking about Next, she said: "It is quite a big company in England and well respected. The catalogue is mailed out to various people. It is widely advertised in magazines in England.''
