has left one of its crew members recovering from head wounds in hospital.
The Murmansk-registered refrigerated container vessel Tambov arrived in St.
George's Harbour early on Monday morning to drop off a crew member who was suffering from serious head wounds.
After he was transferred from Ordnance Island to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, the ship continued on its transatlantic journey from St. Petersburg, Russia to Houston, Texas, carrying a cargo of frozen beef.
It is not known how the crewman sustained his injuries or what his current medical condition is.
A new container ship will make her first visit to the Island tomorrow.
The brand new Bermuda Islander has been called into service to replace her five-year-old predecessor, giving containers a faster and more spacious route from Salem, New Jersey to the Island's cargo docks.
The new green-hulled vessel is both longer and faster than the ship she replaces and her holds can take a hundred more containers.
When she arrives tomorrow she will bring a total of 121 containers, 19 of which will be refrigerated.
Also on board will be two boats.
She is due to leave the Island on Friday morning.
The regular visitor Somer's Isles arrived in Hamilton Harbour on Monday morning bringing 86 containers, including five refrigerated containers.
Special cargo included a petroleum tank truck, a fork lift, a four-wheeler and numerous bundles of lumber, plywood, pipe and steel.
She is scheduled to head back to Florida tomorrow afternoon.
The container ship Oleander berthed in Hamilton on Sunday morning and departed on Monday.
In her holds were 150 dry containers, including 34 refrigerated containers.
Also on board were seven road trailers and 30 cars.
