Overbrook School for the Blind is a boarding school in Philadelphia which combines academic studies with teaching mobility and life skills.

Classes are small, with a ratio of eight students to one teacher and one assistant. Students are treated as individuals, and the focus is on teaching them independence. The core curriculum includes teaching orientation, career education and literacy, social interaction and leisure skills.

While students have their own personal computers and other specialised learning equipment, emphasis is also placed on using regular, everyday equipment and devices so they can function well out of their usual environment. A touch and learning centre, with such things as models of mountains, is among the facilities available to assist students with special study projects.
