Thief stole bible from driver

If he had turned to Exodus 20:1 in his stolen book, he would have read: "Thou shalt not steal.'' Police Community Relations Officer P.c.

If he had turned to Exodus 20:1 in his stolen book, he would have read: "Thou shalt not steal.'' Police Community Relations Officer P.c. Gary Venning said a Pembroke woman reported the bible had been stolen from her car on Sunday afternoon.

Her car had been left unlocked on South Breeze Road in Sandys around 4.30 p.m.

On returning 45 minutes later she discovered the bible, contained in a blue and pink leather zipper case, was missing.

P.c. Venning said: "There seems to be no limit to what people are prepared to steal.

"The officer investigating the case believes the cover may have been mistaken for a purse. But if he found out it was a bible why did he not just throw it back into the car.'' In another incident a burglar got into a home in Ord Road, Paget, during the early hours of Monday morning.

The culprit is believed to have gained access through an insecure sliding glass door and removed about $200 in cash from a purse.
