Two called to the Bar

before the bench, preferring to practice their craft behind closed doors.

Donaldo Laurenceo IV of Hamilton Parish and Nicola Jones last week became the newest members of the Bermuda Bar Association in a ceremony in the Supreme Court before Puisne Judge Richard Ground.

Neither lawyer plans to spend much time in litigation.

Mr. Laurenceo was a former pupil of Francis Patton School and the Berkeley Institute before he went abroad to attend the Universities of Buckingham, Sussex and DeMontford in England.

On his return to Bermuda, he completed his pupilage at the law offices of Richard, Francis and Francis in the corporate law department.

Mr. Laurenceo, the only son of Don and Ivena Laurenceo of Bailey's Bay, plans to pursue a career with the firm specialising in trust formation.

Ms Jones, a University of Wales graduate spent 12 years as a solicitor in London, England before heading to Bermuda for a "change of pace''.

Ms Jones, who specialises in trust and estate at Appleby, Spurling and Kempe, said of her move: "Since coming to Bermuda I have become involved in sports,'' she said. "I recently ran the half-marathon.'' NEW KID AT THE BAR -- Donaldo Laurenceo (above), along with Nicola Jones, were called to the Bermuda Bar last week.
