Magistrates' Court yesterday after he admitted riding an auxiliary cycle with no licence or back light, attempting to pervert the course of justice and making false statements.

Philip James Richardson, 16, of Smith Avenue, Warwick pleaded guilty to the offences which occurred on April 7 at 10.58 p.m.

Prosecutor Sgt. Kenrick James said Richardson was stopped when Police saw him riding on Lighthouse Road in Southampton with no rear light.

Richardson gave his name as Shondelle Martin of Spice Hill Road, Warwick.

He was arrested two days later and taken to Hamilton Police Station where he apologised for the offences.

Magistrate the Wor. Charles-Etta Simmons fined Richardson $50 for having no rear light and $75 for the licence offence. She ordered a social inquiry report before passing sentence on the two other offences.

"I don't know why you young people think that Police are stupid,'' Miss Simmons said. "Maybe they are, but we have a fail-safe system so you cannot get away.'' He was released on $150 bail and one surety he will appear in Magistrates' Court on May 30 for sentence.
