The man, who was fighting another man over a woman, said Police, who also reported a number of minor scuffles and a series of break-ins.

Four homes in the East Shore Road area of Sandys were targets of break-ins.

Thieves stole ladies' handbags from three of them. The bags mainly contained personal items.

Thieves also tried to break into a home on Loyalty Estate and Daisyfield, but were unsuccessful.

There was also a break-in at Callan Glen in Hamilton Parish. But the thief was disturbed and nothing was reported stolen.

MAN FINED FOR SEA AND LAND OFFENCES CTS Man fined for sea and land offences A 33-year-old Paget man was handed $475 in fines yesterday after pleading guilty to land and sea offences in Magistrates' Court.

Sgt. Peter Giles, prosecuting, said Roy Martin Dennison of South Road was the operator of a power boat which was stopped by Marine Police on July 31 off King's Point, Sandys.

Because he was unable to produce a life jacket for each of the 13 people on board his craft, Dennison was charged with failing to have proper safety equipment.

On December 22, Dennison was pulled over on South Road, Paget, after a Police patrol noticed him driving erratically.

An alco-analyser test revealed 156 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood -- almost twice the legal limit.

Dennison was fined $75 for the marine offence, and received a further fine of $400 and one year's disqualification for driving while impaired.

ROADWORKS START ON N. SHORE ROAD TFC Roadworks start on N. Shore road Police are advising traffic to avoid North Shore Road between Flatts Village and Old Road, Hamilton Parish for the next few months.

Police spokeswoman Sgt. Andrea Browne said roadworks, involving the laying of utility cables, began in the area yesterday.

The work is expected to be completed in about four months.

Sgt. Browne said traffic lights are expected to be used, but drivers are advised to use alternative routes.

TEENAGER RETURNS POL Teenager returns Missing teenager Starla Humphrey has been found, Police reported yesterday.

The 13-year-old girl disappeared on January 8 and was believed to be staying with a teenaged boy in the Somerset area.

The school student turned herself in last Thursday after an article and photograph of her appeared in The Royal Gazette that same day.
