Officers are particularly anxious to get in touch with the woman who reported the accident to Police from a pay phone.

The man remains in critical condition in King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, a Police spokesman said.

He crashed into a utility pole shortly after 3 a.m. on Middle Road in Warwick, near to the Warwick Academy bus stop.

No other vehicles are believed to have been involved.
