MP sued for $108,000
for $108,125 by the Bank of Butterfield.
And last night he accused the bank of moving with "unseemly haste'' over issuing the writ.
The writ was entered in the Supreme Court register on Friday.
Mr. Hall, a partner with Hall, Duncan & Trott, said he had not yet been served with a writ.
He also declined to comment on details of the suit, describing it as a private matter which went back several years.
"I know there was a portion of debt with the Bank of Butterfield which had been guaranteed by an individual.
"The bank indicated it no longer wanted that particular guarantor.'' Mr. Hall refused to name the guarantor, saying: "I will not get into the habit of talking about my private business to The Royal Gazette .'' He added he had no doubt some people took "great glee'' in trying to embarrass him through legal action.
Mr. Hall said he no longer banked with the Bank of Butterfield.
"They appear to be moving with unseemly haste with issuing writs,'' he added.
Mr. Hall went on: "Money or the lack of it will never ruin me. I am not capable of being ruined in my own Country.
"I will honour my obligations when I can. I hope the bank can act reasonably.'' Lawyers for The Bank of Butterfield are Appleby, Spurling & Kempe. No one from the firm was yesterday available for comment.
